بررسی عوامل مؤثر بر همراهی افزایش فشارخون شریانی با دیابت قندی

ABSTRACT Hypertension (HTN) and Diabetes Mellitus (DM) commonly occur together, but their concomitant conditions are not completely determined. To clarify the concomitant factors of HTN and DM , in this prospective study , we examined 2000 consecutive patients (mean age 56. 1 years , 65.9% fermale, 34.1% male) with diagnosis of Essential Arterial Hypertension in a cardiovascular clinic in Rasht . 369 Cases (18.4%) of the total patients had DM , compared with 1631 Cases (81.6%) Without DM. The prevalence of systolic hypertension (20.3% Vs 8.9% p<0.001), mean age (57.8 vs 55.7 year, P<0.01) mean duration of history of HTN (73 vs 6.3 years, P<0.01), menopause (84.1% vs 73.9, p<0.001), and positive history of DM in first degree relatives (33.6% vs 14. 1% p<0.001),were higher in diabetic than nondiabtic hypertensive patients. These data suggest that elderly age, long history of HTN, menopause in female sex, systolic hypertension, and positive history of DM in first degree relatives, are risk (concomitant) factors for association of DM in hypertensive patients
